Things to do in and around Shropshire

Hi,

As the summer holidays are coming up I thought it would be good if people could recommend some days out in and around Shropshire. Links and prices would be good too!

I will start...

Telford Town Park! which is free and for a variety of ages! My DD loves it here and we can happily spend hours playing in the water, on the equipment and having a picnic.

There's the Ironbridge Museum, I'm not sure of the prices as I've not been since I was knee-high. There's Acton Scott Farm in Church Stretton, Attingham park, which is just outside of Shrewsbury. I don't know much about prices because I've not been to Attingham or Acton Scott but I hope this is helpful

A bit further out on the way to Chester but the Crocky Trail is a brilliant day out for all children and teenagers (and your dog). Take a picnic, (although now you can buy food there), wear old clothes and have an amazing time. Words cannot explain the place as it is unlike any other.
If you go as a larger group then the costs come down.

Carding Mill Valley (Church Stretton) is National Trust, so I don't know prices if you're not a member, but it is a brilliant day trip - popular on hot days so get there early. Kids can happily splash about all day in the river, building dams and so on, or you can walk to a waterfall, or just clamber up a hillside. Cafe available for an ice cream to round off the day. We love it (can you tell?!).

I love the crocky trail!

Cheshire way also gives you the candle factory and ice cream farm.

Fordhall farm is lovely for a wander and a picnic.

Ooh yes the ice cream factory is well worth a visit.

Bump Did you do the ghost walk in the Crocky Trail? I went once and it is so bloody frightening. I'm tempted by the special Halloween events they have which are just for adults but having seen what their minds are capable of I don't think I'm up to it! Even the little Thriller films they do are a nightmare with the special devious effects. These are definitely just for teens and above. Brilliant!

Talking of ghosts there are walks around Shrewsbury on offer sometimes. Check the Libraries for info on that. Also there are paranormal events in the old prison sometimes advertised on FB.

If you like the esoteric then a visit to the Cave is a must. The usual crystals, books and tarot stuff to buy but you can also go downstairs into the medieval cellar and try pyramid healing (tasters are free), see the witches bottle and leave prayer messages. Upstairs is a new vegan cafe and coffee specialist along with an Art Gallery. Very friendly staff. It's a non profit organisation. Find them on FB. They also offer free Astrology courses and Magic Square and Open circles on various Thursday evenings.

Ooo, not done a crocky ghost walk. Might have to check them out!
