Greenwich council is running a consultation on the future of the great Greenwich gasholder

Greenwich council is running a consultation on the future of the great Greenwich gasholder - this assumes it will be demolished - but an increasing number of locals are beginning to object:
The holder is exceptional - very very big (one of the biggest ever built), and dramatically sited as a local landmark. The expert on gasholders is telling us:
"There is a consultation report from Greenwich Council on the future of the site of East Greenwich Gasholder No.1. The holder has been refused listing and is scheduled to be removed. The draft implies all evidence of this monumental landmark would be obliterated."
The draft report is currently being consulted upon, as advised in the link consultations.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/KMS/dmart.aspx?strTab=PublicDMart&PageType=item&DMartId=895 , with a consultation end date 17 July. They appear to be fast-tracking this – the document is dated June 2017, yet “the Planning Brief is anticipated to be formally adopted by the Royal Borough in late July 2017”.

Greenwich Industrial history has published a blog page on the background to the site and also mentions what is done with defunct gas holders world wide. greenwichindustrialhistory.blogspot.co.uk/2017/06/the-east-greenwich-gasholder-biggest.html

There are twitter and facebook pages being set up asking residents to vote and comment - and they are getting massive support

Local History Soc. on Friday evening about the gas industry in Greenwich and angling to go to Dockands History Group tonight

Hello

totally different post but I have heard of and met someone renting a house to get their child into an over subscribed primary while keeping their main house. They seem to have got the place and no doubt this means someone else does not have a place.

They no doubt will rent long enough to secure their place however I do see this as being unfair and decisive - how do I make an anonymous complaint o ensure it is looked into.

Do you have any pointers?
