Hi,
I moving to Cambridge to be with my partner as his jobs means he has to stay there. I am black and I would like our kids to not be the only black kids in their class. Are there any diverse, good schools in Cambridge, I'm finding it hard to find info on this. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

This may out me but have just been to my Dc2's primary school fair and had this post in mind so was unofficially surveying the crowd. First thing to note: Headteacher is mixed race. There is also a black teacher on the staff. So that's not loads of diversity om the staff but probably more than in many schools. As for the kids, incredibly diverse. Yes, probably only three of four black kids or mixed race black/white kids in a class, but I saw Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, Eritrean, Israeli, Italian, Romanian, Bangladeshi, Indian, Pakistani, Irish, Portuguese, Spanish, Mexican, German, Polish, Latvian, French, Australian, American, Jamaican, Senegalese and Croatian - or at least with one parent of the above origin - just this evening. This is what diversity looks like - children from all parts of the world.

Milton Road Primary. Great school too - new head is very dynamic.

Awesome! I think we're in the catchment area... We're a way off applying for primary schools but it's good to know Smile

In my son's Yr 6 class at St Philip's there is a lot of diversity. I would say nearly 1/2 the class would not be classed as white British or European. Although, it is a CofE primary there are lots of muslim pupils. I think that's great diversity and a plus for all children to be in a grouping that is so diverse.
