Hi everyone,
I have just found out i'm pregnant for the first time and am due in Jan. My OH is working away and I feel incredibly isolated and alone 24/7 :(. I have my dream job here and he has his..200 miles away!
Anyone got any tips on how to cope or anyone else in a similar situation?
:)

Hello gnau123, and congratulations on your pregnancy.

I'm sorry you're feeling alone, especially right now. Is there any chance your OH will come and join you now you're going to be a family?

Either way I would suggest getting a network of friends around you now. Are there any workmates you can socialise with? As your pregnancy progresses, maybe join pre-natal groups. Pregnancy yoga can be fabulous, and a great way of bonding with your bump (and finding mates who will happily chat about cravings/sickness/baby movements/symptoms!).

Whereabouts are you based? We'll see if we can point you in the right direction for groups.

Hi,
Thanks so much for your reply! :)

OH and I have talked and earliest he could come back would be Nov.. I am due in Jan so hopefully this won't be too hard!

I'm in Edgbaston at the moment and will be moving to Lichfield area in around 3-4 months. Would be great if you could point me in the right direction! I'm only 6 weeks at the moment but finding a support network would be great

Thanks for your help!

Oh that's great news!

The lovely Mandy Rees runs pregnancy yoga classes in Edgbaston, Harborne and Bournville. I found pregnancy yoga SO helpful when I took them for my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies, and you can start as early as you like. They're not at all physically demanding btw - more of a stretching and bonding experience - and an easy way of meeting other mums. She is such a friendly, wise lady and I'd wholeheartedly recommend her: www.yogabellies.co.uk/members/mandy/

Kat is also great, and gives lots of ideas for coping with labour: moseleyexchange.com/regular-workshops-at-moseley-exchange/

I've heard good things about this in Harborne: www.hc2bham.com/events-courses

Lots of people make valuable friendships via the NCT, and I'd sign up to the Litchfield branch so you've got some familiar faces you can meet up with when you finally move: www.nct.org.uk/branches/lichfield-tamworth

And relax! You sound really open and friendly and I'm sure you'll be able to build a good support network around you. And if you get any tips to pass on to anyone else in a similar position, do come back to this thread and update. Best of luck with the pregnancy, Sala.

I can also vouch for Kat at Moseley- she's fab!
Sorry, my children are a lot older now, so I don't know what is going on for of groups. I hear the netmums pages are good for local meetups too.
The problem on MN is that people don't tend to volunteer their location!
Have you joined a MAN ante-natal thread? They are absolutely brilliant for keeping you in touch with people all around the same stage, usually entitled "Due Jan 2018" or similar. You'll all be getting scans, bumps, aches and pains at the same time, and it becomes a really strong community- many of us are still in touch with people from our MN antenatal threads. Plus there'll be people of for second/third/umpteenth time who will help you know what to buy and what advice to ignore. I can't recommend them highly enough, and there's bound to be someone in there from Bham/Lichfield region, or at least west mids.
Good luck Flowers

You should download Mush it’s available on the App Store and google play. It really helped me have a network of mum friends when I moved to birmingham. Xx
