Crossing the railway lines at Reading (pedestrian)

Hi Reading dwellers, we’re seeing a lot of properties north of the railway line at Reading that claim to be walkable from to Reading city centre. It looks from Google as if you have to walk under the lines in a tunnel alongside the traffic. Surely this isn’t right? How does a pedestrian cross the line on Caversham Road and Vastern Road? Thanks.

Under the bridge. It's hardly a tunnel and there are paths for pedestrians. Failing that there is a pedestrian underpass underneath the station.

Yeah, you just walk under the railway bridges: the pavement carries on alongside the road and is separated from the road by railings.

Thanks both. The Vastern Road one looked especially uninviting on Streetview, good if there’s a carfree underpass at the station. Was thinking about traffic fumes on toddler in a buggy (as well as mugging tbh).

Both are very big railway bridges. Lit up so not dark at all and always busy.
As said above there is also a new underpass under the station itself. Although I wouldn't want to walk through them on my own at say two in the morning. During normal day time not an issue.

It does get very busy that side and one weekend a year it's very busy with the festival. But it is only one weekend a year.
