.........drumroll..........

We are delighted to announce TWO fabulous prizes to our big Christmassy Mumsnet Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield/Birmingham REP competition!

Family tickets (2 adults + 2 children) to two of the best, most magical theatrical shows you will find in Birmingham this year. Best of all they both take place after Christmas so you still have something to look forward to after the presents have been opened!

Room on the Broom at 3pm on Boxing Day, December 26th.
The Snowman at 7pm on January 11th.

Simply answer this question on the thread below, putting the word SNOWMAN or BROOM to show which prize you'd like most.

What is your favourite all-time children's book?

I'm hoping your answers will be helpful to all parents (step right away from The Octonauts and the Shadow King, people!).

Deadline: Wednesday December 14th, midday.

Mumsnet Terms and Conditions apply. We reserve the right to re-draw the winner if we receive no response within 7 days.

Pushed to choose one children's book, I would have to go with: 'That Rabbit Belongs to Emily Brown' by Cressida Cowell.
It's a charming rhythmical story, with lovely innovative illustrations by Neal Layton.

"The mummy shop"; a book about a little boy who trys to return his mummy for One who is better at cooking/bouncing/choosing clothes etc. But then realises his mummy is just perfect after all. Lots of laughs for the children and the mummies... great for children from about 3 to 8. (SNOWMAN)

Mine has to be Matilda -absolutely loved it as a child and still do as an adult.

TwoAndTwoEqualsChaos · 22/11/2016 17:57

I have really enjoyed introducing my now 10 year-old to childhood favourites: one I re-read even now is "The Little White Horse", by Elizabeth Goudge (nothing like the film!!).

Dogger by Shirley Hughes was the first book I truly fell in love with as a child, so I would have to choose that.

The Highway Rat (Julia Donaldson) for its rhythm, pictures and humour. SNOWMAN.

I'm torn between the humour of What the Ladybird Heard and the beautiful illustrations in Peepo. I think the ladybird has the edge!

My Naughty Little Sister. I loved the stories growing up and remember thinking she was soooo naughty! Reading them again now to my DD I realise My Naughty Little Sister really isn't naughty at all!

Congratulations, Jelly10 and Emma1707! You are our winners for the family Room on a Broom and Snowman tickets (respectively).

Thanks so much to everyone for entering our competition, and for some really excellent book suggestions which will be reappearing in stockings all over Birmingham :)

Have a very merry Christmas everyone, and keep an eye out for more brilliant competitions in the New Year.
