Secondary schools and primary schools

Which are your favorite (non faith) primary (year 3) and secondary schools (year 8) and why? We're moving in January and are looking for a place, but are trying to aim at good catchment areas that might have school with spaces to accept our children.

If you are moving into the area catchments are not so important as the council will offer you schools where there is space, most schools are pretty full. There is quite a lot of movement in Cambridge schools so if you don't get your preferred school you could always go on the waiting list. A few years ago a friend of mine moved to Milton and ended up with her children at 2 different primary schools which was a pain for her but i guess you will have 2 different schools anyway. For secondary you need to apply direct to the school if you like Chesterton, Parkside, Coleridge or Trumpington.

I suggest you find out which secondary schools might have space and go from there. We are in IVC catchment and the head teacher there said he would find space for anyone in catchment who wanted to go there. (Histon Impington, Milton, Girton, Oakington).
Good luck
