Also posted on primary education but no response so hoping some locals might help me out! About to start visiting and applying for school for Rec 2017 and wondered if anyone had any direct experience of these two especially (as I think we might be in catchment) and they are both fairly new. Also any others that might be worth looking at - Valley is our nearest but the catchment is VERY small so needing to cast the net wider! Thanks!

As do LFA.

What I don't understand is why so many parents are driving if the catchments are so small? Genuine question.

Bromley

I guess it is because parents are driving to drop off before going to work or drop other DCs off at other schools or just because they are running late. Driving to school seems to be the norm for lots of parents.

BromleyMama Also people may move after getting into a school and then drive, often getting siblings in on the sibling rule meaning years of driving to school. As the catchment for La Fontaine is currently up near Bromley Common and is going to move to Nightingale Lane I would imagine a significantly higher amount of those parents would be driving at least in the short to medium term until the intake catches up with the catchment area? The school nearest to me had a 0.29 catchment last year but loads of parents drive, mainly those with older children so I assume they have either moved or got in when the catchment was much larger.
