I'm looking at sate school for now. What are the schools for Crosspool area?

Where is QMC hospital? Does anyone know of a place for rent in crosspool area?

Looking for 3 bedroom /2 bathroom or 2 Bedroom/2 bathroom in Crosspool or another great area?

How far is Sheffield from Nottingham?

QMC (Queen's Medical Centre) is in Nottingham. It isn't far from Nottingham to Sheffield, maybe an hour or so max by road depending whereabouts you start/finish and traffic. You probably need to check the websites of the skating rinks individually to see what training is on offer, or could her current coach suggest one.

As an ignorant Southerner, but I have visited all three towns, I would choose Sheffield out of those 3. In my dim memory Sheffield is only an hour usually on the motorway from Nottingham, so very do able for competitions etc.

Crosspool state school for your daughters age are Tapton (Ofsted outstanding) or King Edward V11 ( which I think got Ofsted requires improvement, but not sure)

Just go on that websit,e with the house I linked to, and type in S10 rental and it will bring up everything available. Be aware however, that some S10 areas are full of students....but not Crosspool/Fulwood/Lodge Moor.

Broom hill, Crookes, and Crookesmoor are full of them.

Ranmoor is nice too

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 22/05/2016 16:59

here andhere and here

Katz · 22/05/2016 18:20

King Edwards latest ofsted is Good not requires improvement - with outstanding in two areas too.

Were will you be working? This could influence area to live in too

Crookes isn't as student filled as it once was but you need to do you home work, def less student on the crosspool side or the main rd versus the university side.

My friend used to skate competitively several years ago, from Sheffield. Her niece is about 15y and also skates competitively - from Ice Sheffield. They are highly recommended there.

Hulababy · 22/05/2016 19:23

I Iive in S10 and work (in education/teaching) in S11. Its a city I would definitely recommend, especially in the south west of the city. We live o the very edge of the peaks and it is a beautiful place to live and walk.

Everyone of you are so helpful and kind I feel so blessed to have all of you give me so much information.

Are all of you from the UK, if so then I think I be among very good people and this gives me hope and peace of mind, which I so needed with such a big move. I can not thank you all enough. Thanks!!!!!!

Is there work for painters in the area? My husband is a painter and will need work.

Thanks.

At 12 (with a jan bday) she would be in year 7 now - the first year of secondary school - the new school year starts in Sept and she would go into year 8 then.

It might be worth contacting the council to see which of the secondary schools have places - this might also help guide your location choice.

I'm sure there is work for painters - i live near an independent paint suppliers and it is always busy.

Hulababy · 23/05/2016 12:42

Merlgirl - I woke at an infant school so it only goes up to 7 year olds.

merlgirl · 23/05/2016 14:45

Thanks so much Katz and Hulababy. Will contact them.

That's an old league table from 2012

I think this is the latest one www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk/schools-by-type?step=phase&region=373&geographic=la&phase=secondary

merlgirl · 23/05/2016 20:59

Thank you will check it out. What is the weather like in Sheffield?

OP posts:
MuttonCadet · 23/05/2016 21:06

Better than the west side of the Pennines!
It all depends on what you're comparing to, warm in summer, cold / wet in winter with at least a week of snow.

merlgirl · 23/05/2016 21:28

Florida USA!

OP posts:
SouthernBird · 23/05/2016 21:33

We had ten inches of snow in our back garden winter before last. It's definitely good for sledging!

Southcoasting · 23/05/2016 21:33

Merlgirl, I hate to be nosy, but how are you living in the US if you are a UK citizen?

MuttonCadet · 23/05/2016 21:47

In that case it's cold, but not humid!

merlgirl · 24/05/2016 03:58

We have dual citizenship.
