places to live and good schools?

Hi there!

We are thinking of moving back to the Uk after 12 years in Dubai.

We have 3 boys ages 15,11 and 10 and a daughter who will be 4 soon.

For our eldest we have applied to Bluecoat and Liverpool College for 6th form. Any other recommendations for 6th form?

Our 11 year old boy did not get into bluecoat and the council won't let us apply to any state school or academy until July :(

We also need primary places for year 6 and reception (preferably state schools)

We are willing to consider private as well if necessary. Maybe they can go private until places come up elsewhere or maybe the 11 year old can go private till year 12 and move for 6th form...We have already contacted Merchant Taylor who do have spaces for sons 1 and 2 (subject to assessment) but it is quite far....

We have a house in L17 but we are willing to move to Allerton, Childwall or other places if that means being in the catchment area of good state primaries.

Would you consider moving to just outside Liverpool?
I moved to St Helens 5 years ago now and have to say that the levels of attainment in my local primary are in the top 10 across Merseyside.
There are local private schools too but Rainford High is achieving excellent results.

Crosby has excellent schools, with merchant Taylor's school close buy, and also excellent state schools, my daughter went to merchant Taylor's, and was very happy there, and has a good profession, my friends, children went to state schools in Crosby, ( now are doctors, teachers, and into good professions ) it is also has good aminaties, and close to beach, and easy reach of the country. (Schools Crosby road primary, forfield lane primary) chesterfield secondary, and sacred heart secondary school) and house prices are very reasonable, depending which part you live in, but are all in the catchment erea. Hope this helps you.

Booker avenue in L18 is a very good primary, as is St Michael in the Hamlet in L17. I've no experience of secondaries round there.
