Bristolian seeking a Birmingham friend

I live in Bristol but travel to Birmingham at a weekend every 6-8 weeks to visit an elderly relative. These trips are very dull for my 6.5yo DS who has to sit in the car for an hour and a half each way with not much fun in between. It's not much fun for me either - my relative is hard work. Sometimes I try to make it a bit more fun for him by combining our visit with a trip to Cadbury world or other local attraction. But I wondered - if we could make contact with someone in Birmingham that we could be friends with it would make a big difference to our day trips. Then we could both look forward to the day, maybe have a nice lunch and either go to some child-friendly venue or just a playpark if sunny, and only a minor part of the day would be our "family duty" visit.

SO: any mumsnetters from the area (ideally not too far from the A441 or A38 as we come up from the M5) with DC around 6 or 7 yo and ideally just as obsessed with lego ninjago/nexo knights/star wars/superheros as my DS (and as keen to dive into games pretending to be various characters from these) and who would enjoy a bit of a natter with a fellow mumsnetter while the DC run around shouting?

Local boards tend to stagnate for months or years with no reply to opening posts but even if you don't see this till 2017 or 2018 it might still be worth replying (though add a year or two to the DC ages obviously!)

Hi xkcdoriginal - that sounds like a great idea! I'm sure there are lots of parents with lively Lego fans at a loose end at the weekends.

There are loads of places you could meet up - Cannon Hill Park; Cadbury World play area; Lickey Hills; any number of play parks. Check out our

I'll do a tweet for you. And, remember, if you do arrange to meet someone, make sure that you organise to meet in a public place to start with. Use Mumsnet's private messaging system rather than giving out emails and phone numbers until you are comfortable.
