transient nature of Romsey town

Hi ladies! I've lived on Mill Road for a while now and have a 4 year old boy & 10 month old baby girl. I love it here but am starting to get really depressed about how often I'm losing really close friends due to them leaving Cambridge! I know Romsey Town has a transient population but I can't be the only one who wants to stay here! I'd really like to find a local mummy who plans to stay here so I can meet up, have playdates etc . Anyone out there??!

Hi - I've also lived in the area a while and have an 8 month old daughter. No other children. No plans to move away from the area as I like it so much. Always happy to meet new people as my job down in London means I haven't built up a great network here.

Hi there! (Sorry it took so long to reply, you know how it is, busy busy busy! ) So you say you work in London - are you back working yet or were you talking about before mat leave? If so, the commute must be a strain with a little one. Poor you! So what days do you work / when are you in Cambridge? Do you go to any baby groups or anything?

Hi again. Busy here too which owes much to my lack of organisation. Still on mat leave until around July when theoretically supposed to return to job in London but meeting my manager next month to hopefully agree some flexible working that would mean being based in the local office. Currently go to Little Rockers group on Mondays in Lichfield Road but hope to return to Jellytots on Tension Road next week. How about you?

I have also lived here quite a while (in Cherry Hinton - but that too has quite a transient population or already established cultural groups) but due to working outside of Cambridge Wed-Fri my 2 year old and I often find ourselves at a loose end on Mon-Tue.
Is Little Rockers worth trying out?

Little Rockers is a great little group for preschoolers as the organized activities (singing, stories, craft & food making) are all aimed at that age range. It's £1.50 a session but for that you get a hot drink and cake and your LO gets food and drink as well. First session free.

Had the same experience with transient Romsey, which is just Cambridge really, but also no plans to move and just never re-networked due to working. I am hoping it picks up when the oldest starts school in September. I have a 3 year old boy (almost 4) and a 11 month old girl so you are similar to me OP. I'm back at work during the week every day except Wednesday though so I'm not very good at getting to groups any more! We're usually kicking around Romsey though.
