Where to give birth?

Hi, we currently live in Alvechurch but will be moving to Rubery in Jan. You'll see me at Birmingham Women's again the day hell freezes over, so please don't suggest there. If they weren't moving the Alex maternity services to Worcester I would go there, but Worcester is just too far. So where can I give birth now?

Hello! Sounds like you've had a bad experience at the Women's. I've had all three of mine there and been well looked after, but that's not much help to you if you can't face going there.

What does your midwife suggest? Would you consider a home birth?

It was awful there, my ordeal began at the blood test after my 12 week scan and peaked after an episiotomy that was preformed without my consent nod left me with nerve damage and continued to spiral out of control until three days after delivery where I just decided not to return there regardless.
I'm not sure if a home birth would be advised due to the bleed I had last time and don't want to be transferred as it defeats the home birth and if I was shipped to the women's I would have to refuse to get out the ambulance.
I have booked at Solihull just for now, but will probably chose somewhere else. I might actually go to Worcester after all as the Alex staff will be there who were excellent and treated me when the women's flat out refused to. I also want to breastfeed again and found the women's we actively against bf and the few volunteers there were fighting a losing battle

I'm in the same position now and am
Due in 4 weeks. I'm not really fancying Worcester for some reason also the fact they told me at my consultant appointment they have transferred my care to worcs- no discussion or anything has infuriated me

Sharon were you at the Alex? It was a shock announcement that I had to google after a friend told me he thinks they're moving maternity. I was a little suspicious as I was pregnant about ten weeks ago with my second, but miscarried and our GP couldn't refer electronically to the Alex.
I've just been reading reviews and think I'm going to transfer to Worcester. It's a quick trip down the motorway looking at it too. I just can't think of anywhere any good in Birmingham to go. I had a recommendation for Warwickshire today though and it's not too far either on the motorway. I'm thinking I'm not too fussed about traveling now as I was thinking I would rather birth with NO medical care than go to the women's so even if In worst case I don't make the hospital i was prepared to do it without care if I had no option anyway

Is womens that bad? I was hoping to go there but they arent taking any more referals until March now ive heard. I may look at Warwick but DH is leaning more towards Worcs Royal.
