please can people give me any advice about which areas are good/to avoid. I have a 1 year old and plan to have more kids. We are hoping to home ed for the early years so anybody out there who does that in the area would be good to hear from also.

we have a budget of £550-600 - is that realistic. Guessing TW may be out of our price range.

If you look on Rightmove there are loads in this price range ??
When we moved last year I googled about good areas and schools and there is already quite a few threads on this.
We are new to TW so wouldn't really like to say, which area is good or not. We're in Southborough and we love it.
If you are planning to home school you could try and by a house in an area that struggles to get a primary place as these areas might be slightly cheaper. But if you are going to send your children to secondary I would buy a house near to secondary schools as these places are hard to come by.
Tonbridge is cheaper and the train station has slightly more trains going to it than High Brooms and Tunbridge Wells.

In that price range you would be able to purchase lovely properties not only in TW and Tonbridge but also in villages of Groombridge, Speldhurst, Fordcombe, Langton Green. Do you need to commute? After home schooling are you looking to go private or state? Primary places in both sectors are tight and gaining entry after reception year may be difficult.

Don't forget Kent is a grammar county and although most schools are good, and the secondary moderns are improving, if you don't pass 11+ your child will be going to a school which has the top 25% creamed off to a grammar.
