Good evening Girls! Im new here, so im sorry if this is not the first topic like this. But just want to talk with someone.
Me, myhusband and our 2 beautiful kids( 4 and 2) are living in london at the moment. But we have made decision about moving to Bgham. My husband is not 50+k earner, im not working at the moment, so its very hard here, the prices for everything is just crazy. So we choosed bgham because of rent prices what was shock for me :D nursery prices as well.
Cant wait for the day with nice house with garden :( and our own house, coz at the moment we r livi together with my sister to make it easier to pay the rent.
For me most important thing is reception year for my son, he will start this september. We got outstanding school here in london, so obviously want smth good in bgham as well. But the problem is, we dodnt know WHEN excatly we gonna move, june, july or august(but definetely this summer)
Once we know the area, what should i do about application? Need to go to school or council? And what are the chances to get the place in school we choose? Im scared they will put him in not very good school coz no other places left :(
Thanks for any advice, idea :*

You need to contact the Council - Schools admissions.

Lots of information here

Like in any big City, the most popular schools are likely to be full, the less popular, you will have a better chance. Birmingham is a massive local authority (the biggest in Europe, I've heard say) with an incredibly young and vibrant population - there are something like a 1/4 million children and teenagers in the City Smile - so you are likely to live within reach of several schools, wherever it is you settle. To be fair, most Primary schools are very good. It gets more divisive at secondary age, but I don't think any Primaries would be dire.

Do you know where abouts in the City you will be living ?

Good luck with the job search, missestrelita, and come back here when you know whereabouts you're house-hunting.

There are lots of MNers on here with first-hand knowledge of schools and communities who will be happy to help. Smile
