I'm a little nervous of using this hospital to have my baby at in November, My last was born in a lovely hospital in Stockport which is much nicer looking.
This hospital seems dated, dirty and I've a bad feeling about it. My question is, did anyone else give birth here and was your experience a good one ?

I did! My second son 8 years ago. And yes compared to it's big more modern cousins of Stockport and Wythenshaw it does seem a little more olldy-worldly! My son was 6 weeks early and spend time in special care and I could not fault the staff or service in any way, it was very upsetting and all rather unexpected and they took such great care of me and my son. I think because it's smaller I seemed to get more personal one to one care, less part of a big machine. It certainly was not dirty, was not so keen on the food but that is just hospital food for you! I've had friends who've had babies at both Wythensahw and Macc for various reasons, you have to go with what you think and feel you would be happiest with. My first was born in a big teaching hospital in London and I found that to be grim and uncaring compared to Macc. Have you been on a tour yet or met any of the midwives?

Thanks for your reply. Pleased you had a positive experience there.
Met a few midwives so far, couple at the hospital were fine but the centre where I have to go in Macc is awful, my experience with the last midwife left me in tears on the way home. The other midwife didn't seem to know much, which worried me.
I had to go in Macc hospital last week and found it dirty in comparison to Stepping Hill. Guess I'm comparing the two too much. Anyway I've now swapped over to Stepping Hill and feel much more relaxed under their care. Macc just wasn't making me feel comfy at all.
Only problem now is distance in labour ! Confused

Oh and they won't let you go on a tour until 30 weeks ! Crazy or what.
