Changing school to Stephen Perse

DD (yr 2) is currently at a very small local indie. She won a part scholarship from a state school and has been there for about 18 months.

Whilst I love the nurturing aspects to the school and the tiny classes sizes I am a bit Hmm about the academic side. Part of me is starting to question what it is we are actually paying for.

She is a bright, very self confident gobby child, however I don't think she is being stretched enough (not a pushy mum honest!) She needs to be kept busy or she gets easily distracted and her teacher mentioned DD does a lot of 'clock watching'. Often she'll come home saying he day was "boring" and we've noticed that she seems to have taken a backward step academically over the past year.

Obviously my main priority is that she is happy and thriving at school but I would like to investigate other options.

I have been looking at other schools, namely Stephen Perse and noted how highly recommended it is.
Just wondered how rigorous the admissions process is at junior level and whether it might be a better 'fit' for DD.

(Trying not to think about fees and daily trek into Cambridge!)

it is a great school. The admission is rigorous but I honestly don't know what percentage get in from other schools. Most kids are moving up from the preprep (which is where my kids are right now). I would say apply to several places and see which fits. I like the Stephen Perse, but all the Cambridge independent schools are really good but have different feels. You'll need to visit and see which works for you. Commute is a pain but it really is ok and worth it. They do have buses from park and ride as do all the other indies.

also wanted to add that they are expanding so it is very likely a significant proportion enter from other schools into year 3, I just don't have a feel for it but hopefully someone else will know
