Living in Woodborough

Thinking of buying a house in Woodborough. Although it's a pretty village, don't know much about it. Have two daughters and would be commuting into Nottm to go to Girls High School.

If anyone can share any info on whether its friendly, welcoming, activities/community for a family with 4 & 5 year old.

Also, what's the drive like into Nottm?

Many thanks!

Hi,

Sorry you haven't had much response - I suppose there are only so many people who've lived in Woodborough. I've tweeted a link to the thread a few times, fingers crossed someone will come along who can help.

Hi! We live about 15 mins from woodborough. I know there is a website called "woodborough web" you may find useful. I think there may be a bus to the girls high school. I have a friend who lives in lowdham and the drive seems fine into nottingham. There is also a bus.
Sorry I can't help you more x

Woodborough is a lovely place to live. It is reasonably wealthy, but mostly just reasonably well off professionals who are muddling Hough like everyone else. It's only just Tory, fairly liberal. I have good friends here, the school is lovely. My kids went here and will go to CFSeely school in Calverton which they love. There is a bit of school snobbery, some believing that the Minster school at Southwell is much better. It isn't. And some sending is to the high school. There are 2 pubs, both central to the community and a village hall that is always busy. The church is well used and is very active. The local park is full of kids and in the summer its full of me and my friends drinking wine and having picnics. It's pretty safe and most of our kids are allowed out round the village with their mates. Halloween is great with the whole village joining in. Bonfire night similarly the community association make a real effort. So like anywhere there is gossip and silliness, but generally it is a really smashing place to live.
