Hi, just looking for a bit of advice. My husband, toddler and I are moving to the area from the north west. He needs to be situated somewhere between Heathrow and Gatwick and we do not know the area. From looking at the mal and doing a bit of research we have been looking at Dorking, Reigate and Guildford but just wondered if anyone could give us a bit of a heads up. Ideally we would like to live somewhere family orientated, semi rural (forgot to mention the dog) , good schools etc. We would prefer a smaller town or village to a large one. We don't need to be near a train station so would prefer not to have to pay the price for this! Hope you can help! Thank you.

Do you have a budget?

IDismyname · 01/02/2015 07:20

I'd check out Farnham which is a beautiful town, great schools ( see South Farnham School for instance) and plenty of space for dogs and children.
It's about equidistant between the airports.

Thank you, will have a look at Farnham. In terms of a budget.... we are definitely going to have to downsize, so whatever we can get for £200-250,000, most likely a flat or small 2 bed. Hopefully achievable!

Beemac, look at places like ash, ash vale, normandy, camberley, mytchett, farnborough, fleet, cove. All equidistant from both airports. but much more reasonable budgets. Good schools generally, but sadly to afford something in the catchment for the likes of SOuth Farnham, you will not find anything in your budget. There are lots of properties around the 250 mark. Try to avoid Aldershot, as its a bit rough at the moment. There are some houses in your price range in Guildford, but some are on very rough estates. Woking and surrounds is also a good option, with excellent train links and also 1/2 way to both airports.

Thank you for such fast and helpful responses. This definitely gives me something to look at and I can start to feel more positive about the big move!

Hi there,
I've moved to Englefield Green Surrey a year ago and I have a 13 month old . Is there anyone in the area that has a baby/ toddler and wants to organise a meet- up ? I checked the meet up section for Eggam but there is no meet- ups on there at the moment.

Hi,
I posted the other day! Does anyone know of any good toddler groups in the Englefield Green area ? I have a 14th month old girl and I'm new to Englefield Green. Any news is helpful. Also if anyone has a similar aged toddler who would like to arrange a play date . I'm interested in organising some meet ups in the area . Cx

Hi
I moving to Frimley and will be working in Frimley business park. My son is 9 years old and I will be renting for a short period of time with an intention to buy soon. I would like some suggestions around areas to rent with a good primary school. Do you know of any good schools with space to accommodate my son in year 4? I would like to buy near a good secondary school in 6 months time. Any suggestions on places to buy?
I drive , so happy to be away within 15 min of a drive but prefer a good school. Gordon school has some excellent reviews for secondary. Any other suggestions?

I live in Reigate and absolutely love it but you pay a premium to live there. If you want semi-rural there are lots of lovely villages in the area but all within easy reach. I would also look at Bookham. Nice place and easy access to the motorway but no train station.

Thanks for your reply. Does Reigate have some good primary schools? My son is in year 4 and would like to buy near a good secondary school. Do you know of any good primary schools with space to accommodate my son in year 4?

I checked Reigate and Bookham, and both places seem quite far away from Frimley. I would like to settle down near a good school and any suggestion for a good primary and secondary state school closer to Frimley?

kerryd278 · 09/04/2015 12:30

sorry ruth2233 I was responding to the original post on Surrey as a whole. I don't know much about Frimley I'm afraid but good luck with your move :)
