Hi all. My wife recently parked in B and Q sutton for about an hour and then left ( you can now re-attend after 1 hour). She reattended appx an hour and half later. We have now recieved a 'parking charge notice for £50 saying we overstayed (max of about 3 hrs)which goes up if not paid for within 14 days. My wife is insistant that she left and came back and didnt overstay. I believe TPS have just taken over form another company and the return after 1 hr has recently been implemented. It was longer before.
Unsure as to how to proceed. Was going to pay it as it would be pretty hard to disprove as anpr camera pic shows car coming and going out (but not the out and in inbetween). Then i have been reading lots about these parking companies saying , 'if you carrespond with them you are admitting liability'. Just let them send their court threats etc and they eventually go away. If i did contact them and said 'check your camera during certain times and they will see us go and come back -will they actually check ? I'm doubtful as its not in their interest. Do i speak with the management at band q ?. I have just read an article that says most ANPR camera (AUtomatic number plate recognision) will only log you initial entrance and your final exit, thus making a mockery of being able to re-attend after the 1 hr period.

Please help. Could do with some knowledgeable advise. I wouldnt want bailiffs coming round. Would give the kids and me a bit of a fright

Many thanks
Michael and Christine

I would just pay. You'd be wasting time getting worked up over this. Factor in your own time writing letters etc. Bad luck and thanks for the caution.

Quite a lot of parking restrictions include 'no returns'...are you sure it didn't include this? If it is a third party company, they are quite aggressive in wanting to recover money so I wouldn't bother fighting it.
