Hello , I've decided to relocate to Aberdeen to join my husband in 8 weeks time ! Can anyone give any advice re good experiences re primary schools . Particularly areas around north and west . From looking at others threads I'm keen to know re Westhill, Kintore, Inverurie , bridge of Don? Or any others you can recommend so I can starting visiting a few schools. Possibly Millitimber, cults would be too expensive I think. Husband working at Dyce and cycles to work.
Many thanks in advance for helping!

Commuting from Cults / Bieldside / Milltimber would be possible but hard work for your DH, and housing is expensive in these areas. Westhill has decent primaries and academy. Kingswells primary is good, but the academy would be Bucksburn, although you can apply to go out of zone to Westhill. Housing a bit cheaper in Westhill and Kingswells.

I don't know much about the schools in the Shire, but you you can search out the inspection reports here.

Kintore school has an excellent reputation. Clean, modern building and plenty outdoor space.

Kintore is lovely. The school is full to bursting as Kintore has grown since the school was built, and they've had to put hut classrooms in the playground, meaning less playground for more children, but it's still a great school.

There are plans to build a second primary in the next couple of years.

I wouldn't fancy cycling from Kintore to Dyce, though. The back road from Kintore to Dyce is twisty, and the A96 is busy.

Hello Low carb heaven ,and Aberdeen Angusina. Thanks so much for your help. We now have a rental in Kintore and had our visit to the school today which we like very much! Although there are a lot of children it's a big building so didn't feel crowded at all. We feel Kintore is really friendly . We move up in 2 weeks and he will start in P2 in 2 weeks. I'm now excited and looking forward to meeting people :)

I'm sure you'll love Kintore! Mine are past the primary stage, and I have nothing but good things to say about Kemnay Academy, too!

Oldmeldrum is fab, we rent but houses are a wee bit cheaper than the city. DH sees a few folk cycling to Dyce Smile. We like the primary and the secondary looks good. My DC are in P2 and ante preschool nursery at Meldrum Primary.
