Hello, my husband and I start Work at Lincoln uni in sept but are not keen on living in Lincoln itself. Can anyone tell me if they think it possible o commute from west bridgeford to Lincoln uni daily ? Or would it be to much ? Thanks ;-)

Hi Claire,

I think it's a longish commute but do-able if you really want to live in WB (which is very nice!).

I used to commute to Newark daily by train and that was very do-able, about an hour door to door but; it's less far, I was 17 mins walk from Nottingham train station (not WB), had almost no distance to go at the other end but, occasionally, the trains went wrong and it all took an inconveniently long time.

For Newark, the road is so indirect that the train was quicker, also it was quite prone to accidents, tractors and other impediments. That's something to consider if you're making a car / train choice.

Maybe others can advise on the current reliability of the roads?

Thank you, would you say it was over an hour out of rush hour ? I had a look on route planner and it said 50minutes ? But I appreciate these can be misleading :-). I haven't been to west bridgeford but hear it has everything we are looking for, shops, restaurants etc ?would you recommend it ? :-)

Forgot to say, we would drive as opposed to get the train.

I'll let others respond about the journey but yes, WB is nice, essentially a small town, attached to a bigger city. There are quite a few useful local shops and the restaurants and bars are thriving.

Do you have children? The schools are good, which is a major reason why people move to WB and does make housing more expensive but means there are a lot of facilities and activities for children and families.

Thank you. No we don't have any children. We just feel Lincoln lacks the modern day bars, cafe culture, nice independent shod that we are use to (leamington spa). We would like a small town with a village feel, close to a city like Nottingham. The houses are on par with Old Lincoln as our alternative option, but I refer Nottinghamshire
