Advice on St Christopher's primary school Temple Cowley

Hello there I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on this school? My husband and I are thinking of moving to Oxford - we have 2 children a DS aged 4 who'll be starting school this September and an 18month DD. We've seen a house we really like in Temple Cowley but the local school - St Christopher's - has pretty bad Ofsted results. I come from a family of teachers and always take Ofsted with a pinch of salt but if anyone has any knowledge or children at the school would be great if you could share. Many thanks :)

Hello, have friends with children here and they have found it difficult in that there are some great teachers and supportive parents but there are the reverse too. Quite hard to get support from the local parent community for school events, Head still there despite slow progress in improvements. However, as I understand things are improving, slowly.

I expect that's not what you wanted to hear, sorry! Of course, important to visit and see how you find it yourself but didn't want to leave your post unanswered.

Hi, what did you find out? I am curious to know, as we are in the catchment for this school. We have asked around and apparently the children there love it...but I have also heard of a couple of children being moved to other schools halfway through the year (but imagine that can happen anywhere).

Thanks

Hello.
Both of my children went to St Christophers from year 2 and 3 - year 4 and 5. I ended up deregistering them both last year and home educated them due to multiple problems with the school. One being no support from head teacher when my eldest was having serious ongoing problems with his Teaching assistants (he has cerebral palsy) and due to my youngest son falling behind due to multiple teachers changing due to high turn over of staff leaving. He had previously been a year ahead for math and reading which he is back up to date again now. Hope this helps.

Hello,
I have had 3 children go through St Christopher's and one is still currently there. I have nothing but praise for this school. My children have been very happy here. The school has a lovely welcoming atmosphere to both pupils and parents. If I have had any issues I have felt they have been dealt with in a sympathetic understanding manner. My children have always been pushed to the best of their ability and have achieved wonderful SATS results.
There has been a large turnover of staff however I do feel that the school have dealt with this in a way that is not disruptive to the children. If you want a school that has great inspirational teachers and TA's then this is your school.

Hi having just moved into the area I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this school has improved , as looking at thread it looks as though there have been issues here previously, any information would be really appreciated.

Hi

Yes it’s really improved it’s rated good. I have a child in year 4 there and I think it’s a brilliant school. The head now the old deputy and she has really turned the school around. It’s caring with a real focus on the happiness of the children. They also exceed national levels in Reading/phonics
