Moving to Edenbridge. School help???

I'm moving to Edenbridge hopefully by Christmas or before the primary school deadline hopefully. I have 2 children one starting yr 8 in Sept and the other due to start reception next Sept.

My son currently goes to an outstanding school on Bromley and currently going to have to commute by train daily until next Sept reasons being I've paid nearly & 2000 for a school trip that he is going on next year and me is not refundable plus he is really looking forward to it. Alternatively I may have to drive him to school and he gets train back.

I don't know Kent at all so what are the schools he is more likely to get into or is more likely to have space as I'm heading on baby threads many are over subscribed and would hate to take him out if an outstanding school to out him in to one that is just satisfactory.

Also does anyone know what Edenbridge primary school is like. Also I've heard good things about Chiddingstone and four elms. What is the likely his of getting into these schools. With only three choices compared to London choosing 5 I guess it's better to be realistic with choices.

Lastly what is transport like. Do buses run regularly, what are the dates like, do they do weekly bus passes and free travel for under 18's like London or is it all completely different

hi, I dont know much about Edenbridge Primary School, my son went to Four Elms and is now at Tunbridge Wells Boys Grammar (he has just finished Yr 8) but Crockham Hill is very good as is Four Elms and Chiddingstone. Hever is worth a look too. Chiddingstone gets the best results for the 11+ so head there first if you can. I dont think the schools will match Bromley as they are all quite small but the lifestyle for kids is good and there is plenty of clubs for them to get involved with. You just have to make an effort to find out whats going on as Edenbridge is a real mixture of people but a good small town to grow up in... i did.

sorry, I didnt see the last bit about transport. buses to T Wells for school have just doubled from £100 to £200 a year which is a pain and only now for use on Mon to Fri (used to weekends too). The secondary schools are wide ranging and your son probably would want to try for one of the boys grammars in T Wells - TWGSB or Skinners, or Judd, in Tonbridge. Contact the schools and enquire about places in Yr 9. Good luck and where abouts in Edenbridge are you moving to?
