Hello- we will be relocating to Exeter in the next couple of months and I have only been once 15 years ago (!).

DH has had a job offer which is our chance to get out of London. We have two DC- 3y & 6m. I am on mat leave but have freelance work up to Christmas.
I have no idea of areas, schools, the atmosphere of the place, how to apply for a pre-school for the eldest....!
Could anyone advise me which areas could be a starting point for good state primary's, 3 bed properties ... & which areas to avoid.
Thanks

What's your budget for a house? Will you be staying state for secondary?

Hi! I'm also relocating to Exeter (Cranbrook) next year - we have a DD who is nearly 3 and a 5 month old. Was just wondering how you're finding it? X

Hello, we're also moving to Exeter and need some advice about areas. Our budget is £220,000 tops (for this we'd need a flat/house that needs no work other than paint/carpets etc) and we need a 2 bedroom place.
DH can drive, but I can't so my dream location would have a small grocery shop, village/church hall, and a library as well as a bus service, although I know I can't have everything!
I really don't mind if it's a flat, cottage or house, I'd much rather it was a nicer, safer area. I've never even been to Devon and we're only moving for DHs work so any help would be much appreciated.

Hi!

I'm not too well up on house prices in Exeter as we aren't looking to buy just yet but Shizlack - your budget should be fine for a 2 bedroom place.

From what I have seen Cranbrook is a good choice :) it looks lovely there. You could try looking at Alphington, Pennsylvania, Cranbrook or Exminster? There are some lovely houses in these areas although Exminster is a little more out the way I suppose.

I grew up in Exeter and just moved back here last month! Been living in Taunton for a few years but with a baby on the way I was keen to be back here. It's a great city!

Good luck with house hunting, hope this is at least a little helpful!

Thank you Alex, DH has been to Exeter loads with work, but it's still work so no time to investigate different areas. We are hoping to get a visit in before we move for good (we do get 30 days accommodation paid for, but imagine we'll have to rent for a bit too, but that'll be for the shortest time possible).
I will look up those areas as the lists of areas people would recommend I found were all from a couple of years ago do might be out of date.
Thank you again!

Hi Shizlack you've had some great advice. Be confident about moving to Exeter, as Alex1308 says, it's great for families. Good luck with the move!
