Moving to Plymouth

Hi. Was wondering if anyone can give advice on where is nice to buy a house in Plymouth area. We've been looking at Plymton and Plymstock or further out in Ivybridge or Buckfastleigh? Also looked the other direction at Saltash but wasn't so sure. I've got a 2 year old and 6 month old so plenty of things for kids and good primary schools would be great. Also need to commute into Plymouth for work though. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks.

The areas you have mentioned are the better ones.

Personally I wouldn't go as far as Buckfastleigh if you are working in Plymouth and if you live in Saltash there is the bridge to pay every time you come back into Plymouth. It is £1.50 a time or if you get an electronic tag, I think it is 75p a time and you get billed for it. Plymstock is generally very nice and a lot of Plympton is. Ivybridge is nice and supposedly has good schools as do all the areas above.

Out of the above choices, Plymstock would be mine (we could never afford it). They have good primaries but a good secondary too and would be my secondary of choice in this city.

Hi I live in Plymstock and we have about seven primary schools here, all good - My DD starts school in Sept so I've checked them all out! As Alrite says the secondary's are good here too, Plymstock and Coombe Dean. You're very close to the beach, coastal path walks, lots of good parks, it's easy to get into town. No park and ride though which is rubbish IMO.

There are certainly plenty of bungalows..

The local library is lovely and has a gorgeous coffee shop! There are lots of children's clubs and centres. Oh and lots of good places nearby to eat, such as The Clovelly Bay Inn at Turnchapel, The Mussel Inn at Down Thomas and The Bridge at Yacht Haven Marina

The best thing about Plymstock is Mount Batten, the pier and surrounding area. You can catch a water taxi over to the Barbican/Hoe which the children love.

I used to live in Plympton and thought that was great too!
Ask me anything you like I will try to answer. Good luck.
