We have just moved to Hillbury Road, Heaver Estate but I'm not clear exactly which primary schools fall within that catchment, can anyone help?

Does anyone know if any of these are possibles;
Honeywell
Beatrix Potter
Belleville
Henry Cavendish
Telferscot

Thanks in advance

I think your closest schools will be Ravenstone, Rutherford House and Henry Cavendish. Possibly also St Anselms if you are Catholic.

You are definitely too far out for Honeywell, Belleville and Beatrix Potter.

That's so helpful thank you SW12. I'm aware St Anselms is a good school, would you say Henry Cavendish is the best of the other three?

In terms of Private, what would be the best nursery and prep - it's such a big decision and with a first and possibly last baby (due to age and IVF) I so want to get this right for him.

Thanks again in advance anyone who might have some advice.

Historically, Ravenstone has always been viewed as the best but had a slightly wobbly OFSTED report earlier this year (think there is a thread about it on here somewhere if you do a search), I'm sure they'll remedy it quickly though. Rutherford House was only set up a couple of years ago but seems to be very popular now. HC also good but you might be a bit far away - although they have a second site just the other side of the common in Streatham too now. I think the catchment for Telferscot is probably too small as it has a smaller intake.

My kids went to Marmalade Caterpillar on Boundaries Road and I can't recommend it enough but I hear good things about Oaktree, Gateway and the Crescent too (they are all pre-schools rather than nurseries).

Lots of choice if you go private - Broomwood Hall on Garrads Road and Hornsby House are nearest but kids from this area also go to Thomas', Eaton House, Finton, Wandsworth Prep and even out to Newton Prep. If you are interested in Finton, Hornsby or Eaton House then you need to get his name down quick as it is first come first served. Broomwood, Thomas' and Newton prep are selective so not such a rush to get on the list but you then have to do interviews.

Mine are now at Broomwood Hall on Garrads Road which they (and I) adore.

You have been incredibly helpful, I have registered Luke at Asquith (Balham Day Nursery) but did sway over Marmalade Caterpillar and Eveline because of the day school connection at Eveline - I may have a look at this again if you speak so highly of Marmalade Caterpillar.

He is only 4mths but I guess it's never too soon to contact Broomwood Hall?

One of the best things about Marmalade Caterpillar was that they were super helpful with the process of choosing next schools and p preparing them for tests etc... The head there seems to know all the admissions secretaries which is very useful.
No rush for Broomwood as they "interview" them the year before hand so you don't have to be top of the list to get a place.

I have just made a time to visit Marmalade Caterpillar and wanted to say thank you for all your wise points. These are incredibly difficult decisions, I didn't think it would be such a challenge but we will get it right!
