Help Mumsnet Create A Breastfeeding Map Of The UK!

Breastfeeding hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons again last week, when news broke of a mother being asked to leave a branch of Sports Direct after she breastfed her baby there. It's hugely important that we all pick up on stories such as this, and offer support to mothers who are made to feel embarrassed or uncomfortable about feeding their children when they're out and about - but at times it can feel like playing catch-up.

It seemed to us that we could take this opportunity to change the rules of the game and start celebrating those places and companies/organisations that make feeding on the move easy and enjoyable. So we are trying to create a breastfeeding map of the UK, featuring great feeding spots up and down the country.

So please share your favourite local places to breastfeed in public and we'll pass the posts on to MNHQ for inclusion in the national map. Whether it's a park bench overlooking a children's playground or tennis courts, a particularly cosy corner of a café or somewhere unexpected but welcoming (a local bank has already been nominated), do please add them to this thread*.

Thank you!

Bit of a while since I was at this stage with DCs but I always found parks quiet and peaceful places to breastfeed (during warmer months!). Local libraries too as long as one is discreet and finds a quiet corner....

M&S Cafe in Colliers Wood has the comfy seated areas which are tucked away from view and offer a sanctuary....

It is very important for us breastfeeding mothers to know our rights.

Uk law (Equality Act 2010) outlines a mother's right to breastfeed in public spaces such as parks, libraries, on public transport, theatres, cafes etc without fear of ill treatment/harrasment.

Please read the following link for a more detailed summary and information on what to do if you encounter opposition to your right to feed your child.
