Hi there. We need some help and guidance please. I and my husband are planning to move to st Albans, mainly based on the facts that my husband will start a new job in Luton, we are expecting a baby in 6 months time and I need to commute to the city in london daily for work. As st Albans is a great commuting town with a great deal of history and beauty, we decided it would be right for us.
We like big houses and we have looked in several areas including fleetville, marshalswick, but we fell in love with a house in Jersey Farm. Although it feels morw rural and isolated from shops and active life, we felt it could atill work for us given its proximity to skyswood and wheetfield schools although am not sure how far/close ahould we be from these schools to be in a good position as a catchment. We do realise there is 1 pub and 1 branch of tesco express and 1 gp in jersey farm but can someone advise me of what it is really like as a place to live and consider home. We are moving from west London, and we are in our early 30s, but to be honest we are not into crazy clubbing or anuyhinh buy we like dining out and enjoy shopping and parks. Is Jersey Farm a good area in St Albans?

MANY THANKS FOR UR REPLIES
xx

I used to live there and it is quiet but I really liked it. It's perfect for driving to Luton as you can nip through Sandridge and up through Wheathampstead and along the Lower Luton Rd. You would have to drive to the station though as the buses weren't great IME. Check out the parking situation at the station as I think they have built on some of the old car parks. There are a couple of nice country pubs within a couple of miles, the Wicked Lady and the Elephant and Castle which is in the woods at Nomansland. Marshalwick is well established and has a good range of shops. Fleetville is a lot busier, it has got quite trendy in recent years but it used to be a lot rougher and there are still elements of that.
