Afraid we're on holiday but would love to do the next one

Here's some discussion questions on Curtis's website

starters for ten

as well as the webchat linked up thread.

Did people want to meet in a house - I'm happy to host - or out in a bar - could book a table somewhere like the Anchor with nibbles?

Anyone still up for this? If not we can get new date / new book to motivate.

I thought the book was fine but not nearly as good as I thought it was going to be.

I've heard great things about David Eggers The Circle

Amazon link

Whatever we decide I'm still keen - it was great to get reading something again. Been ages! Also was thinking of asking Heffers for a discount for Mumsnetters so we can #shoplocal

I'm definitely still up for this. Still plodding through sisterland it's okay but I tend to only have time to read at night and I just fall asleep!

LocalEditorCambridge · 07/05/2014 15:04

GinAndIt I think we might have to find a new date.

I'll email everyone as they may not be checking this thread any more...

That's fine, I've been sent a new Tony Parsons book through the post from mums net to review. A police procedural, not his usual style, looks good though.

NewtoCambridge · 10/05/2014 19:38

Right, sorry completely missed that the date has passed. Read Sisterland, it was OK, but not much more.

In terms of bookshops, if not Heffers, what about Toppings in Ely? It's not Cambridge, but it is the most amazing book shop and worth a visit.

newto I agree - I was expecting something incredible - apparently her earlier ones are great. She was being compared to Donna Tartt and getting rave reviews.
