Moving to Amersham / Chalfonts / Beaconsfield Area - advice please

Hello everyone!

We've just sold our house in London and are looking to move to the Chilterns - we're thinking broadly of the area around Beaconsfield, Amersham and the Chalfonts. Like so many, we do have to commute into London on a regular basis, so transport links are important (though don't have to be right on top of a station).

We've got a 2-year old girl and a baby on the way, so are looking for a family-friendly place - obviously need to consider schools etc.

Do any of you have any advice where is nice, and if there are any places to avoid? The HS2 plans are clearly a worry - any opinions on how cautious to be regarding those? Any ideas on nice places for kids to grow up / inside stories on schools etc?

Would love to hear any of your experience. Really looking forward to moving to the lovely Chilterns and starting a different kind of family life :)

Hi you ask an awful lot of questions but quickly while time allows . . . The thing with the areas you mention is that it is hard to say anything negative as they are all so different from London or at least the London i left behind. Schools are really good so difficult to again say anything negative go with what suits you as a family ie if schools with lots of open spaces then don't forget to look into that too and not just grades as it all affects learning. I cannot say HS2 is a worry it is just one of those things that is ongoing and people are educated enough to ensure that they must have their opinions heard as they have the time and opportunity. Lots of opportunity to get involved in your community wherever you decide to move to if you wish. Could go on but out of time! Oh if you can use the chiltern line as well as the met line it can be a life saver for any delays.

Amersham would be my choice. It's got everything.

Hi, looking for a pre school in Beaconsfield, Kiddies Academy seems reasonably priced... can anyone recommend the nursery from experience?
I think they do a before/ after school club too, which would suit my eldest daughter as she starts school in sept.
Any advice would be gratefully received x

We are looking a property in Amersham, but I donot know which part is good for primary schools. I hve two son's one is 7 yr and another is 2 yr. The main reason for moving is because of schools.
