How about....

Thursday 30th
11.30am
Christs' Piece Play area
Followed by Coffee / lunch / in Giraffe at 12 (Christs' Lane CB1 1NP)

If weather miserable and wet we can always head straight to Giraffe...

Please do organise another meetup - I will definitely come if I can, now that we're over this bug! Looking forward to meeting everyone and was really sorry to miss this week's one.

LocalEditorCambridge · 31/01/2014 17:58

So glad to hear you're better. We've been in flu hell and I'm desperate to get out of the house after eldest DS has been off for over a week.

Skinny had a some great ideas - and won't be ruined by weather.

Did anyone else fancy organising this one - if you fancied getting together next week - as I can't do anything until w/c 10th (and got a school thing on the 12th)

LocalEditorCambridge · 02/02/2014 19:00

Short notice but Thursday 6th February is free for me - and I've checked weather forecast and no rain Grin

Is anyone else around and fancy doing anything? I'm completely open to suggestions. I just have a baby with me so those with toddlers to entertain might want to decide?!

OP posts:
Abenethri · 02/02/2014 21:27

I think I'm free this Thursday - somewhere central or south like the botanic gardens would be great for me, but depends on what would suit most people! DD is only just starting to toddle so still a baby really and reasonably portable....

SkinnyLegsAndAll · 02/02/2014 23:04

I'm in, too. The Botanic gardens sound cooooooold this time of year, though. Might be too grim for me! Although I'm happy to chat over a hot drink in the cafe and intermittently wrangle DS.

Other indoor options might be The Box Cafe on Norfolk St. (complete with a toy-filled Wendy house), Hot Numbers on Gwydir (perhaps not the best for toddlers), or the Fitzwilliam Museum which has a decent cafe and the museum staff all seem fine to have toddlers/crawlers about the exhibits.

Another surprisingly good low-key and kid-friendly afternoon place (with food, beer and/or coffee) is the Cambridge Brew House on King Street.

And lastly, if we want somewhere warm indoors that will give the kiddos maximum run/walk/toddle/crawl space then we could always meet up at...

Funky Fun House

SkinnyLegsAndAll · 02/02/2014 23:09

Btw, we're still pretty portable, too, (& DS will usually be fine in restaurants/coffee shops) so we're happy to go any where. Smile

Abenethri · 02/02/2014 23:33

Oh the Fitzwilliam sounds good, haven't been there with DD yet! She likes to look at new stuff. Anyone know their policy on bringing buggies into the museum, can you wheel them round inside? I've just discovered an afternoon meeting at 3pm in my diary but as far as I know I'm free up until then...

SkinnyLegsAndAll · 02/02/2014 23:38

Yep, you can bring in buggies and pushchairs - I've got an Uppababy Vista and have wheeled it all around the place. It's really a nice place to go with little ones. DS is absolutely fascinated by the suits of armour!

LocalEditorCambridge · 03/02/2014 09:19

Shall we say Fitz then? What works nap wise / lunch wise?

My DS is all over the place nap wise - I say that like we ever had a routine.. so there's no point in trying to work round us.

Is before lunch better for most?

OP posts:
SkinnyLegsAndAll · 03/02/2014 11:24

Our naps are currently all over the place, too, but generally (even on 'bad' days) I can get us up and out of the house make it by 11.45.

Would that suit everyone?

LocalEditorCambridge · 03/02/2014 14:40

Suits me - have to leave for a pick up so will be heading off at latest 2.

OP posts:
Abenethri · 03/02/2014 22:55

I could make it for 11:30/12/around that time too, I think!

SkinnyLegsAndAll · 04/02/2014 23:32

Great - should we meet in the cafe?

Btw, the step-free access entrance to use with a pram is to the left of the main entrance (when standing in front of/looking at the main entrance which is covered in scaffolding anyway.)

Abenethri · 05/02/2014 17:14

Sounds great - the cafe at 11:45/12? Does that work for everyone? How will we know which are the mumsnetters though!

NekoKutsu · 05/02/2014 17:40

I might try to make this one (if my little one is up to it - he's been kicking off this week) - I can at least make an hour or so. I will be wearing a pink pashmina scarf and an Oyster buggy with maxi cosi car seat on it

LocalEditorCambridge · 05/02/2014 19:13

I'll be there too - I'll wear a scarf with stars on it (and other clothes obviously)

I'm not bringing a penis beaker like A14 did to the drinks. I'll bring my baby instead - black bugaboo covered in food

OP posts:
SkinnyLegsAndAll · 06/02/2014 09:54

I'll be there, too (black Vista, black rain jacket.)

I can only stay for an hour though - I stupidly forgot put out of my mind that we're having 24 people over at our house in the morning and I've got a gazillion things to do to get ready. And poor DP woke with a cold. [hmmm]

SkinnyLegsAndAll · 06/02/2014 09:56

Or Hmm even!

LocalEditorCambridge · 06/02/2014 10:45

See you there - you'll need cake to fortify yourself for TWENTY FOUR people so it's a necessary part of the preparation.

OP posts:
LocalEditorCambridge · 06/02/2014 12:11

I've come outside to say we 're here. No wifi in there - can't see anyone but we're sat by the wall

OP posts:
SkinnyLegsAndAll · 06/02/2014 12:20

Argh!!!!! It's not going to work today - there's just too much going on and I'm completely stressed out. I'm terribly sorry - I feel so awful for not turning up. I should've known better than to overbook mysel with such a big day happening tomorrow. (Did I also mention the inlaws are coming for a birthday dinner as well?! Insane.) And I was so looking forward to meeting some other mums!

Hope you all enjoy yourself...I daren't suggest another meet up, but I'd really love it.

LocalEditorCambridge · 06/02/2014 13:58

Oh Skinny - don't worry at all! I met up with Abenethri and her totally adorable DD - who my DS fell for. Sorry we didn't get to meet you but there will be more meet ups. Brew for you.

I'm in the process of moving house... when that's done I'm even thinking about monthly get together at my place so people can park & bring siblings and not have to worry about carting loads of overtired DCs around...

Plus - I'm about to start at thread about a Cambridge mumsnet book club.

Also - Who's up for organising the round of drinks / evening out? I think A14 has done last few?

OP posts:
Abenethri · 07/02/2014 18:15

I had a lovely time meeting you and your gorgeous little boy! Monthly get-togethers are a fantastic idea - I'd definitely come (and yes please to a book club).

Good luck with the move!

Bluetinkerbell · 07/02/2014 21:28

Finally get round to checking out Local and see I just missed a meet up.
My day off is a Friday, so that would work for me.
Did you know that with a John Lewis card you get free hot drink and free cake :) once a month. Good place to meet up too Wink

Abenethri · 07/02/2014 21:47

Ooh yes! I don't think I've used my February JL cake voucher yet! Fridays are normally good for me too.
