Sandcross Primary

Hello.
We are in the process of moving (from SW19) but there is a strong probability that it will not happen until late Feb possibly later leaving us at the mercy of the council for schools.
My dd is due to start reception in Sept 14. We love Holmsdale & Dovers Green but council say we are most likely to get Sandcross. Of all the schools I visited this inspired me the least. Is anyone reading this who can put my fears to rest.
The parent view feedback on ousted is totally contradictory. The schools results are strong but the kids didn't look excited to be there. Also we wanted dd to go reigate priory post Dovers or Holsmdale. Sandcross told us very few students move across in year 7. Is this true.
Any feedback gratefully received by this very worried mummy.

Reigate Priory only covers years 3-6. I suspect relatively few move because most stay in Sandcross and don't think to apply. It has recently merged Infant/Junior and gone onto one site which would be convenient for those with several primary aged children. Sandcross is working hard to turn its reputation around and has lots of activities going on. Whereabouts do you plan to live as Holmesdale and Dovers Green are a long way apart and you need to live very close to get into Holmesdale even as an on-time applicant.

Thanks Lizs. House is in Sandhills road so backs on to priory park. Distance wise sandcross is slightly closer but we are pretty much between the 3, albeit the outer limits of their intake area but nonetheless within catchment. It's good to know Sandcross is working hard & improving. We just felt the children looked less inspired than previous schools & there was a big reliance on supply teachers/TA's. It was the ofsted report & associated parent comments that worried me most. Just needed to know that our dream move to RH2 to provide a better family life is at detriment of our children's education.

I know lots of kids that go to Sandcross. Seem to me as happy as the ones that go to priory if that helps?

but be aware there are no catchments as such, the criteria is distance. You could also consider Lime Tree Infants which will move site to Redhill/Merstham at some point but that is probably still a couple of years away (site yet to be approved).

I have recently heard lots of good things about Sandcross and wouldn't rule it out. One of my dc's has recently started at Reigate Priory having attended another school in Redhill for infants. No other children moved from the class but we have found the transition to be fine. My dc both do lots of different clubs which made the transition to a new school easier as they had children in their class from ballet, football, beavers, cricket etc. You are so close to Priory you will not have a problem getting in; however, by that time you may find they are settled at Sandcross and you don't want to move them! Reigate is a fab place to live; you won't regret the move!
