Moving to Rusthall - advice please

My partner and I are planning on moving from Claygate in Surrey to Kent - preferably around the Tunbridge Wells area.

We have a house in Rusthall that we like the look of but I wondered what is it like there? We will be having our first baby in August and at the moment we both commute to London.

I am a teacher but am hoping to give up the day job and become a childminder when the baby arrives - do you think there is demand for childminders in this area?

Thank you in advance for you responses

Hi. I live in Rusthall but in the Toad Rock part and I love it. It's a really mixed area, some nice streets, some not so nice but on the whole it is lovely with a nice village feel and you get to know lots of people. You can walk into town in 25 mins and there's a bus every 12 mins which goes to the train station and town. The village has a range of shops so you can get most things there, plus a good doctors surgery.
I commute normally to London and get the bus down to the station and into London, it's tiring but you get used to it and loads of people do it. There's an excellent childrens centre in the village with lots going on as well as some mother and baby groups in the church halls, and at the village library.
I think there is demand for childminders, my ds (2.1) goes to nursery but I think generally there would be demand.
Hope that helps! If you need any more info just ask!

I don't know about Rusthall, but my childminder is within 5 minute walk of my train station. When we were looking at nurseries and childminders, we tended to look at those that were located between our home and a train station, as we too would be commuting to London.

If the house isn't central, then being on a street that's got plenty of off street parking (so parents can easily park if doing drop offs/pickups in a car) is a big bonus.
