"Mum, you are not a doctor, OK?" said my 2 yrs old child

My DS is turning 3 soon but he is intelligent enough to understand a lot of things. He has been suffering from eczema since he was 1 month. Last year we found out that he has gluten and dairy allergy (a long list of products). A professor who checked my son advised us to keep a strict diet at least by the age of 5-6. Since then we have been trying to keep him away from these ingredients. Subsequently he stopped asking regular bisquettes, bread/pasta, cakes.... even he can't have gluten free bakery products as majority of them have soda and yeast :(

Life has been really tough for both of us (especially when we visit friends and families) but thankfully he recovered a lot without steroids (Thanks God).

However yesterday he had just 2-3 bites of bread and his face and hands became dark red and itchy again. When I explained him that he shouldn't have eaten it he said:" Mum, you are not a doctor, ok? Don't tell me that!". He said that so firmly that I dropped my jaw. I never expected him to talk to me like that at least at this age.

I feel really pity for my child because of his diet and condition. It seems to me that he is sick and tired... What would you say to him instead of me? I also really need a little motivation and encouragement from you to carry on...
I would greatly appreciate your comments.

O dear, poor child.
What is he allowed to eat then?

Mum, just take it easy and carry on if it's really working. I'm sure after the age of 5 he will grow out of eczema. 3 more years left only.
