Very much in the news at the moment. Does anyone actually use the CS7 route from Wimbledon to the city?

I have to say I am not at all impressed by what is essentially a bit of blue tarmac. I'd much rather use the backstreets as you can dip in and out of the parked cars to let the speed merchants zoom past you. I'm in no hurry to die. I do use the old cycle route from Colliers Wood to Wimbledon using the zebra crossing at Haydens road to cross that stretch. Bear in mind that's wearing all the reflective gear, helmet, front and back lights and NO HEADPHONES. If CS7 was segregated with separate lights for cyclists then I would use it but not before. Great idea Boris, nice try but no cigar. For a lot of the stretch between Colliers Wood and Wimbledon you could easily narrow the pavement to fit a lane in and I've noticed one stretch where this has been done. More of that please not a half arsed job.

I would love to learn to ride a bike and ride around locally but I am just too scared about the traffic. The cycling superhighways may be fine and dandy for experienced die-hard cyclists until one comes to a dangerous junction/crossroads where the blue cyclist paths often disappear!
