Spanish or International schools in Richmond?

My sister is moving to Richmond from Spain with her Spanish husband and their 4 year old daughter and we were just wondering on the off chance if there were any Spanish or International primary schools in the area? Any advise greatly appreciated, neither of us are familiar with the area.
Thanks

There's nothing like that (except for the German school) - but the state primary schools collectively achieve the highest standards in the country. And there are many families from all over the world living in the area who have been posted here for work.

Hi happy400, I grew up in the US and attended an international school, my children go to the local state primary in Kew. Although they don't teach in other languages (although they do take French and Spanish) the school is hugely international. In fact between the Europeans, Aussies, Kiwis, Americans, SE Asians etc. my Mum always remarks my children are having just as international education as I had....your sister will be in good company! Now that I am looking at a fair number of independent secondary schools, which seem very English, I am suddenly appreciating how international the local state primaries are, which is one reason we will probably continue on the state route.
Good luck.

There is a Spanish school in Ladbrook Grove, that some children from the Richmond area go to. I believe it is free if one of your parents is a Spanish national.

Qbean independent secondary schools, which seem very English That is not my experience. If you take the Hanworth Road indies for instance they are much more mixed than next door Hampton Academy. My DDs have been in two local indies where they had very mixed friendship groups, with lots of friends who are from or who grew up in other cultures. They were at an International School and have experienced the same diversity here. It is also my experience that the indies really value my DDs' experience overseas and their knowledge of other cultures. As one Head said "theses pupils have had such amazing experiences and it is good for our community that we get the benefit of hearing about them and having our minds broadened"

Hi QBean - what school in Kew are you describing? I've not seen much diversity in the local schools so far, but I've only just started looking, so would love your opinion.

Heathclif thanks, interesting- I suppose we are lucky to live in such a cosmopolitan area. New2Kew, Heathclif got me thinking perhaps you wouldn't appreciate the depth of the countries represented from a school tour- as it's not until you meet many of the parents you appreciate the diversity of nationalities. Kew Riverside, Queens and Darrell are all pretty international as is Kew College from what I understand (those are the schools I have regular contact with- can't speak for the others) whether state or independent the primary schools around here are lovely, I know of happy children and parents at each and every one- it's just about finding the right fit for your child and family. There is always movement between the schools in every direction indicating that one persons perfect fit may not be another's
