Hello, my daughter is 9 and she's at a bit of a loss at the minute over taking up a new sport. She will try anything bless her, but for want of a better phrase. She's a bit clumsy. Any way she had swimming lessons for a couple of years at the local sports hall. And they got her up to a level of being able to swim a length, she got to a point and her progress stopped. She lost heart and didn't want to go anymore. While I was racking my brain trying to figure out a sport she would enjoy. I suggested swimming again. Which she wasn't to excited about. I then suggested getting her one on one lessons. This did appeal to her and me. So this is why I'm asking for help. I don't want to screw this up by picking the wrong instructor or environment and putting her off. She is quite a nervous swimmer, doesn't like putting her head in water etc. And she probably lacks confidence in quite a lot of things she does. All I want is for her to progress enough to swim competently and enjoy it. My daughter will enjoy something if she sees she's getting better at it. Can anyone recommend a good patient, one to one swim instructor who can progress my daughter in swimming. As I say she can swim maybe a couple of widths, but she's got a lot of bad habits holding her back and I think for her the one to one route would really help.
Thanks for taking the time.

I don't know whereabouts you are, but there is Total Swimming starting up at my kid's school, maybe you want to check it out? My child goes to the school's swimming club, which is organised on different days to this, but let me tell you, the school is very proactive about sports and reputation, so I can only imagine it's a good service, I hope so anyway!

On the other hand, maybe you could try other sports for her confidence? My kid's the same age and clumsy too, and I can recommend Crosby Ju-Jitsu Academy, we've been going there about 6 weeks now and there's been a definite improvement in confidence.

Good luck with your search, and all power to your daughter.

We go to Broadgreen School on a Saturday morning. Angie's Swim School - her teachers are very good and its not expensive.

My children have been attending Angies swim school at Broadgreen international school for the last 12 months. I am really pleased at how they have come on with their swimming. Angie and her staff are amazing, so professional. My children have become very confident swimmers and I can't recommend them highly enough

Hi,
I've tried a number of swimming schools in Liverpool - I didn't think very much of Total Swimming AT ALL.

I found a great swimming teacher last year, my daughter started having group lessons and I then put her on 1-1 lessons which were fantastic.

It's a really none formal group, laid back and relaxed in the group lessons and the 1-1 lessons were amazing for progressing my daughter's swimming.
My daughter is 3 years old, and after maybe 2 months of lessons was swimming completely unaided - no armbands or floats. She passed her 5 metres badge before we finished lessons to go away travelling over the winter.

The lessons are also cheaper than other schools I've been.

The woman who runs it is called Jenny. The swim school she runs is called ABC swimming. You can look them up on Facebook where you can find her contact details.

Hope you get sorted soon.

My son went to Lifestyles to learn - they have lots of different ability groups and lessons are on throughout the week. He progressed really quickly (he's 7). I think it's around £45 for a block of 10 lessons.
