Hi Everyone

My family are relocating to Dundee as my hubby is going to University there. At the moment we live in a rural area,my daughter goes to a school with 45 kids at it.
I have been offered 2 swaps tp certain areas and was wondering if anyone can give us advise on them, like if they are really bad or if the schools are good.It is Craigmore street Kirkton and Gleneagles street Ardler? Does anyone know anything about them.
We really wanted to be near Monifieth and broughty ferry but its proving difficult.I'm from Glasgow and have lived in schemes before so i know some streets are good and others bad.I just want my wee girl to be happy with our choice.

Thanks x

Dundee is a great place to live, I only know about craigmore street, my friend lives in one of the new housing association houses there and they are lovely, however the other side of the street is really run down council housing. My friend keeps to herself and doesn't get any hassle but she does say the police are routine visitors to her road. She is really happy with the school her kids attend, it's not the catchment school, but it the one that her kids can walk to themselves. Hope your move goes well.

Hi LittleNell,

can't help with those specific areas, I am afraid, but hopefully someone else will be along soon.

Kirkton and Ardler aren't really convenient for University though, I would have thought. What about the Menzieshill area? (Assuming he is at the Perth Road campus).

Hi LittleNell,

I quite like Ardler - I think Gleneagles street is close to the shops side of the area but it's a nice area - family friendly, near Camperdown park, woods, Clatto reservoir and a couple of soft play areas.

There's also 2 decent primary schools right next to each other just down the road. I don't live there but my boy goes to a Childminder in the area and she is really happy with living there.

I don't have that much experience of Kirkton though - my parents grew up there in the 60s and 70s but it's changed since then!

Could you get along to visit either?
