Radstock & Midsomer Norton

Hello MNers in the SW!

We're considering a move, what are Radstock and Midsomer Norton like? It's likely due to mine and DPs work that we'd be working in Bristol, but we would like somewhere more countrysidey, and anyway don't have the budget for the fancy parts of Bristol or Bath.

Both Radstock and Midsomer Norton seem to have older houses and are more affordable. Are they nice?

We like:
a sense of community & friendly folk
independent shops
parks
a good primary school (DD is 3)
older housing/architecture

Have heard there is all the above and more in Frome but I think the commute to Bristol Temple Meads would be too long for DP.

Hallo! I am in Paulton, which is nearby. There is such a mix of housing here, yes, prices can be reasonable.

I used to work in Bath and the daily commute was about 20-35 minutes to the park and ride at odd down. DH commutes near to Ikea and it takes 45-60 minutes.

The Park and Ride at Brislington goes in to temple meads and that's about 25-35 minutes away.

Midsomer Norton is a nice town and has some great primaries, a good high street with a mix of shops.

It's a really great spot to access other towns like Frome, Shepton Mallet, Wells and Trowbridge.

We live right on the edge of the village and 100 yards away we are in fields.

I post mainly over on the Bath board, there are other posters from the area over there too, plus the meet-ups will be posted over there too!

Oh and Frome has a train station that connects to temple meads via bath.
