I'm nearly there! We're moving up on Tuesday, eek! Anyway, am determined to find lots of places to take my nearly 3yo, so any recommendations? And maybe we'll see you there?

She loves dancing so will have to find a class... And are there any farms/farm shops/PYO? Or amazing soft play places or fantastic playgroups where the mummies are all lovely and will invite us back for tea (cake)? Wishful wishful thinking!
:)

Ooh, whereabouts are you moving to? Have I missed your previous thread or did I read it and it's a victim of my atrocious memory...

There are tons of lovely things to do with 3 year olds. I have an almost 5 (going on 15 Hmm ) yo and a 2.6yo.

We get our meat from Johnsons, there's plenty of choice and the prices are pretty good (there's also a tea shop with lovely cake, and lots of animals to look at and a playground for the children). There's a PYO not far from there but I've never been. I'm sure there are loads of other farm shops and PYO places, it depends where you end up really.

We'd love to meet up if you're going to be near us! We're in Sawtry, just north of Huntingdon.

I'm not an expert on dance classes, but there's something called Melody Bear, and also the Jill Bridger School of Dance in St Ives.

this website also has loads of other good listings for activities in the surrounding area.

Good luck with the move!

Hello nic!

I live in the village where the aforementioned Johnsons farm shop is. There's also a good locally-grown veg shop at Bridge Farm on Bluntisham Heath Road, next door to the council recycling facility (turn right off the Somersham Road towards Bluntisham, at the Envar compost works). Opposite there is a free range chicken farm where you can buy a dozen eggs for £2 (egg vending machine!)

In Pidley there is a PYO strawberry farm.

For soft play there's Leo's in Huntingdon, although it's not very big and can get totally rammed on a wet day in school holidays. Otherwise, you'll have to go further afield. There's a nice one at Witchford near Ely, whcih takes around 35 minutes to get to from St Ives, called Treetops. There's also Play2Day at Guyhirn, up the A141 towards Wisbech, which is a lot bigger. But the last time I went it was a bit grubby, and the food is always of the deep-fried variety.

I tend to take DS (aged 3.5) to Houghton Mill, Hinchingbrooke Country Park, Huntingdon Garden & Leisure garden centre, Wood Green animal shelter in Godmanchester, and Stanwick Lakes (this last one being along the A14 near Raunds/Rushden).

For dance classes, we once went to something called Sunny Steps in Papworth Everard. DS hated it so we never went back!

Oh, I forgot the gym in Huntingdon - not a fitness gym, but the one where Louis Smith trained. It does gymnastics classes plus an under 5s free-for-all where the kids can either muck around with soft play-type equipment, or have a go with the real gym stuff - asymmetric bars, trampoline, balance beams etc. Details on the website here

Thank you so much! Sorry have been predictably hectic with move! Loving the new house, and people are so friendly round here!
We took the grandparents to Johnsons on Saturday, it's very nice, kiddo loved the castle and we're looking forward to trying some meat!
We've been to the dump a lot crocvillagemum (I understand that name now!! We really wanted a house in old hurst but I was worried about being out in the sticks! Feel silly now!) so I've seen sign to farm and eggs but now know to defo try them out, ooh I love a bit of local knowledge!

Brilliant! Public transport can be a bit variable in the villages, unless you live near the busway.

Which days of the week are good for you? Are you closer to Huntingdon or Cambridge?

Becketts · 19/08/2013 17:01

Just seen your other thread. Do you know Huntingdon Garden and Leisure on the main road? That might be a good place to meet. There's a cafe and playground.

NicLovesCheese · 20/08/2013 08:56

Yep, just down the road, already been there briefly! I can do most days really, although bit busy til end of next week now... Got a wedding...agh need to find something to wear!
