Hi there,
Anyone in Kendal or nearby and fancy a meet up? I just moved here a few weeks ago and would love to meet some like minded people.

Hi folks - I'm about to move to the area too - about 7miles south of Kendal - hopefully moving next week or the week after. How's everyone finding it up there?

Helloall1 · 22/09/2014 16:07

Congratulations Ithackray!! Is this your first child? How are you liking Ambleside? :-D

Have you got a move date set Holmes?

We have been here six months now, it's gone so quickly! Definitely a fantastic choice. Love it here.

Good luck with your move :-D

lthackray · 22/09/2014 16:19

Hi helloall1 yes it is my first and she's just turned 1 month old- baptism of fire springs to mind : ) but I am enjoying it! Ambleside is great except when trying to get anywhere quickly during the summer months! Whereabouts are you?

holmessweetholmes · 22/09/2014 16:22

Congrats, Ithackray!

Not quite got a moving date yet but expecting to exchange contracts in the next few days with a possible moving date of 1st October - eeek!

Dh moved up at the end of August to start his new job so the dc and I have been stuck down here until the house sale/purchase goes through. I'm going a bit stir - crazy tbh!

Great to hear you're so happy with your choice of location, Helloall1! I must say, it's barely even occurred to me that I could possibly not like it. Beautiful scenery, friendly people, fewer crowds and cars - what's not to like! I'm counting the days...

Helloall1 · 22/09/2014 16:26

We are in Kendal. We have done lots of exploring but still don't know many people, I guess it takes time to establish new friendship groups.

Ambleside is beautiful, you must love it :-D. We were there the other week.

Helloall1 · 22/09/2014 16:29

Oh Holmes you will really love it! There is always something to do.

The Kendal area always has little festivals and lots to see and do. We are always out and about :-D

holmessweetholmes · 22/09/2014 16:30

I've never been to Ambleside but have heard it's beautiful. I really like Kendal and am glad it will be our nearest town. We will be in a little village near Milnthorpe and Arnside, with views over Morecambe Bay. Can't wait...

lthackray · 22/09/2014 18:40

We will have to arrange a coffee and catch up in Kendal at some point?? I was also looking at what classes are running in Kendal but as my little one is only a month she's a big small for most things yet! Holmessweetholmes have you got children?

holmessweetholmes · 22/09/2014 19:18

Yes I've got two but they are 9 and 6 so they will soon be ensconsed in the adorable little village primary school!

Helloall1 · 22/09/2014 20:04

Yes let's organise something, that would be good. Not many people on this site but there are definitely lots of newbies and families in the area :-D

holmessweetholmes · 25/09/2014 11:41

Sounds good!

holmessweetholmes · 02/10/2014 12:58

Hi folks - how about that meet-up? I am finally moving in next Thursday (yay!) so it would be lovely to find some friendly faces Smile.

lthackray · 02/10/2014 13:07

Sounds good- am happy to come to a cafe in Kendal if that works?

holmessweetholmes · 02/10/2014 18:44

That would be great. I'll suggest some dates once I'm there!

Helloall1 · 02/10/2014 18:54

I am in! Keep me posted ladies :-D

Good luck with your move

holmessweetholmes · 02/10/2014 19:02

Fab. Are we all available weekdays in the day time? Or am I the only slacker not working atm?Grin

holmessweetholmes · 02/10/2014 19:03

Oh Ithackray - I presume you are still on maternity leave? I
So definitely not a slacker...!

lthackray · 02/10/2014 19:17

Haha yes am on maternity leave although my job is in London so unlikely I'll be going back to it next year unfortunately. Weekdays good for me- I'll just have to time meeting between feeds or meet in a feeding friendly place with my little one : )

lthackray · 02/10/2014 19:18

Ps my name's Laura

holmessweetholmes · 02/10/2014 20:37

Eek! I have suddenly become less free and less of a slacker! Dh's school needs someone to cover an absent languages teacher, so I will be working part time as soon as we move! Not really what I was expecting but hey ho. Should still be able to manage a meet-up though. Smile

Helloall1 · 03/10/2014 08:26

My work days change each week but only part time so I can usually do a weekday. Once you get settled we can all set a day and maybe start a new thread and see if anyone else fancies it :-D

holmessweetholmes · 16/10/2014 17:35

Hellooo! Anyone around? We have finally moved and are already loving it here! I have a day off on Wednesdays one week and Thursdays the other week (annoying 2 week timetable! ). Anyone up for that meet-up?

lthackray · 16/10/2014 18:50

Yes sure that sounds fun. Am away next week but around from w/c 27th. Just let me know a date and place that works x

Castlestreettoddlers · 21/10/2014 15:08

Come along to baby and toddler group at the castle street community centre! - where there is also lots of groups that meet there but the baby and toddler playgroup is a drop in session so see how you like it on Mondays and Fridays 9.15-11.15.
