Moving to Hindhead and commuting to London

We are due to move to Hindhead in the coming months, during which I'm also due to return to work (from maternity leave) in London. I have now been seized with doubts on just how commutable it is to London on the train from Haslemere, given both my husband and I will be doing so (although I'll be working short days). Is it possible? How long does it really take (I work in Westminster)? Is it possible to park cars anywhere near Haslemere station or should I try and cycle or get a bus?

DS is 2 years old and DD is only 10 months and I'm feeling very sad about it and wondering whether it really is the right thing to be moving out so far, even though DH and I feel that the area is likely to give them a wonderful time growing up.

Can anyone give me any advice/ reassurance/ warnings on whether it really is possible?

Yes, it's a fairly easy commute, though I wouldn't advocate cycling from Hindhead to Haslemere, it's a narrow road that is busy and drivers go way too fast. Plus it's uphill all the way back from Analsmear.

Trains are regular, and the journey's about an hour. Hope the move goes ok.

It should be fine. If you work in Westminster it is only a short walk (or maybe Boris Bike) at the London end. I assume you have a Nanny?
It is a beautiful area.

i think that one should go on damnyouautocorrect, truly hilarious...

'Twas no autocorrect. Analsmear is how we referred to the small town of Haslemere in the company I worked for.

Anyway, Hindhead is lovely, and now they've built the tunnel under the Devil's Punchbowl it's a lot quieter traffic wise.

So chuffed to have provided mirth. :o
