I am not sure which parents you have been liaising with but as a parent of form 5/6 I can report that through our years at Cleve House School the number of children has decreased and then increased, the same as any other independent school in Bristol. The Lawson days were good with a lot of focus on moving children from Primary to secondary schools and with good results but the school lacked other important social elements, which I am very pleased to say was rectified by the new head Mr Wardle. The school has increased in numbers since he joined, yes there has been some that left the school early, due to many reasons other than the school or its teachers (its called life changes) but there has been a lot more who have joined the school, all of which are very pleased to be there. My daughter has excelled at this school and especially with the teachings from these wonderful teachers. The headmaster has broadened the social visits and connectivity with other schools given the children many challenges which they have all embraced. This is a happy school with good education and lots of opportunity for the children to focus on building confidence in all areas. Many of the older children revisit Cleve every year to reminisce and catch up with their old teachers, which emphasises what others post have said about the family atmosphere at Cleve House School. I am sad for those of you that you did not find the true value of this school and hope you will find it elsewhere, but please don't try to bring darkness on a school that has produced happy and confident children over the many years it has been in operation and still is producing the same calibre of children today. Cleve House is a wonderful school and holds cherished memories for both the children and adults alike. This school is a jewel in Bristols collection of independent schools.

I find it incredible that people can make such comments about a school. Many of you sound like you don't even know the teachers or what an inspection entails. Many are quality ones and some are compliance which is basically about paperwork and having the right this and that bureaucratic document. Important but not really the B all and end all of a school. Certainly my experiences with this school have been wonderful including all the teachers from Reception through to Form 6. The school isn't small compared to a church school in a village and to be honest most parents are paying for their children to get that special one to one attention that you wouldn't get in a state school. Academically they are gentle and challenging but not pushy like some schools and they are certainly not into cramming cramming like the new government curriculum is doing. Instead of slamming your schools ( and don't get me started on the swimming bus thread... for goodness sake, a walk to the pool is fantastic for the children. ), why not go and check them out and remember teachers are human too and busy. Just because you pay doesn't mean they stop being human and start being robotic and at your beck and call 24/7.

I have two children at Cleve house school one is leaving this year to attend sidcott secondary. One will be starting in year three. I can not say a bad word about the school. They have raised my eldest son from the bottom of the class and his grades are beyond our expectations ( he used to attend a state school and struggled to be heard among the 35+ class mates to the one hung over highly stressed teacher) they make the most of every opportunity to help the children flourish. They make full use of redcatch park for or lessons or they have indoor and outdoor space available on site . The teachers are a delight to converse with and know the children as individuals and as such unlock the potential in each of them due to knowing them so well. They have homework every night and holidays. I feel that Cleve not only teach the academics but also traditional values and empathy. The children are very passionate about the local community and are always finding fun ways to raise money charities. And 60 years on old pupils young and old return each year to reminisce on good times . I am a fairly new parent at Cleve of only two years but can see that they are taking the school
In the right direction moving with the times while keeping hold of the values that make Cleve what it's known for.
