Hi,

We are moving to Brighton in July and are looking for recommendations for nurseries in the Kemp Town and Queens Park area of the city for our 2.5 yr old and eventually our second child who is due in November. If anyone has any ideas or advice that would be great.
Many thanks.

Your in luck. The Queens park area has two wonderful state nurseries both with outside space. I think you put the child's name down when they are two. I think Tarnerland does wrap around care not sure about Royal Spa.

argh, just lost long post with a glowing personal recommendation for Royal Spa... DS leaves in 2 weeks for Reception in September and it has been a FANTASTIC year - teachers, facilities and location all brilliant. I also know children at Tarner, and their parents equally happy - we are indeed very lucky in this area.

Get your name down ASAP, and visit to make your own mind up when you can. I preferred the more openness of Spa, and I had prior knowledge of some of the teachers. Tarner always seems a bit fenced in, BUT they do offer wrap-around care which Spa doesn't - this may be a factor for you.

sorry should add, that Spa is a nursery school ONLY, so will take them only in the term after they are 3, and it is term time only. If you need a nursery before then and/or holiday cover then Tarner better for you.

Tarnerland was great for my own DD, but I believe its very hard to get into now & it is a big nursery, I think maybe the spa is too??

There is another local small one which is ran by DC mad friends of ours, & our other friends kids that have gone there rate it very very highly - my DD would have gone there too, but they didn't exist at the time - though my own DD even at 9 likes to visit sometimes in the holidays to read to the DCs there as its such a lovely atmosphere - the kids there have a great time, its a very creative & caring & they get to go out on regular trips to parks, farms, dyke etc etc
