I need to book a table for 4 (work / client thing) - no kids. Where would you go?

Anyone got any recent dining experiences (good or bad) they are willing to share?

We had an excellent meal at Sams in Kemptown a few weeks ago, and were pleasantly surprised my what good value the wine was - which might be I portent if entertaining clients! There was an excellent choice of food, including vegetarian, and the service was exceptional.

After reading the rave reviews on Qype, we recently tried & ate fantastic meals at Warung Tujuh - Pool Valley off East Street - its lovely little Indonesian, good menu too - as DH put it, the food tasted so good, he didn't want to swallow Grin - its now our new favourite restaurant, reasonable too :)

We are regulars at & have never been disappointed at Casa Don Carlos in the little lanes - blank on the actual street name, but its Tapas, IOHO the best in Brighton, can get a bit noisy & is generally busy so its wise to book, though its an old style spanish run family restaurant & they are always very accommodating, so will do their best to squeeze you in if theres not too many of you.

& Again from reviews on Qype we also recently tried Pavel an Indian in St James Street - another great find & very reasonably priced - surprised us with the salmon dishes which where very tasty - wasn't too busy on a Fri night, so you could probably get in without booking.

& for a good Sunday Roast - 112 Church Street or the Druids on the Level

Have recently had very good vegetarian Indian meals at Chilli Pickle (facing the Jubilee library) and Indian Summer in East Street.

Also Terre a Terre is lovely.

Indian Summer and Terre a Terre are both really fabulous - unusual food, but smart. Ideal for work clients. Terre a Terre is vegetarian, but in a top class way - Paul McCartney likes it! The Gingerman is also very good.

Warung Tujuh isn't smart enough for clients. Chilli Pickle used to be fabulous, but now aims at the tourists - the food isn't anything like as good as when it was in the Lanes.
