Do mobile hairdressers exist anymore?

Hello, does anyone know a reasonably priced mobile hairdresser who is good with kids? There are a group of us at a playgroup who moan about paying extortionate prices while our toddlers wail and wriggle, so was wondering if I could persuade a mobile hairdresser to come to our playgroup occasionally and set up a chair in the corner? £5 a go or something. Any recommendations? We are in Trumpington. Thanks.

Thanks ruby, yes I am hoping seeing the other kids might stop my two year old with birds nest hair trying to stab the hairdresser with her own scissors.

Oh and if you are a potentially interested hairdresser the statement above was just a little joke .

My hairdresser has gone mobile in the last 6 months or so and she's fab.

She lives in St Ives so not sure if distance wise it would be worth her while but she does have her own car.

She's on holiday at the moment but I'd be happy to ask her for you when she gets back.

If not, I think ruby's idea could be a good one.

Just had mental picture of row of toddlers with heads of foils, lined up at edge of playgroup under those heating lamp things, flicking through cbeebies mags, dunking rice cakes in babycinos.

College students! Fab idea! Will ring them later. Although do wonder whether nervous student and angry toddler are match made in heaven. Ears do bleed an awful lot. Worth a go though.

Stopeatingthatmud, thanks for message, yes please do ask her in case the college thing doesn't work out.

The nursery we use recently arranged a hairdresser to visit one morning every 6 weeks or so - they just asked at a local hairdresser. Maybe a local hairdresser would be willing to arrange a member of staff to visit if they had a set time and a minimum number if children's hair to cut, even for just an hour - and you can cut a lit in that time. I suppose for a small number of children, you would need to make sure thar the hairdresser was getting enough money to take that time out of a salon. Nursery hairdresser is £7 for a childs cut - in an hour or so, even with 5 or 6 children that's not a bad amount of money.
