Hello, I am having a view for a property in hangleton area. The flat is close (0.14 according to up my street) to West Blatchington Primary School. Any advice on the area? I havent gone through the school ofted report but the statistics do not look very good. Anyone knows the area, any advice, good/bad? google map doesn't show supermarkets. How far from the beach? Sorry to much questions, I should go around next week. Quite worried about school, i am moving with ds 6 and dd 4. Thanks for you advice

Hi,
I am in that area and will be going through the school process next year. I have been listening closely to those that have been though the school process in the last couple of years. This is what I have heard from them. It had a very bad ofsted a few years ago and due to the shortage of schoosl a load of people got given it last year. They were all up in arms! speaking to them a year down the line, they have said it is a good school now, with more funding, new teachers and are working really herd to change its reputation. I have heard quite a few positive stories like this. I would request a viewing of the school and arrange to meet the head teacher. I have heard Goldstone is an excellent school and as another poster has stated Hangleton infants is good as well (quite over subscribed).
Hope this helps
Ros

It is the suburbs and you have to get used to being so far out. The small parade of shops in Hangleton is very nice, the people all seem nice. I have never seen any trouble. There is a lack of nice pubs. I think it's a great area to live, as get get straight on the motorway if needed, no hassle with parking, great bus links.
Hope this helps

I don't know anything about the primary school but when my dd was starting secondary 'Blatch' was the one everyone wanted to get into and they had a huge waiting list. That's all I know about the schools but as for a place to live I don't think it's at all bad (my step-brother lives there). It's fairly quiet but still not too far from things. There is a big Co-op near the greyhound stadium which I use often as it's always easy to park, and a smaller one and a Tesco Express in the 'parade' at Hangleton. You can also get to ASDA about 10 mins away on the bypass, or Sainsbury's is about the same in the other direction, so as far as supermarkets go there is plenty of choice!
The beach is a fair distance. It's the sort of distance I would walk by myself (but then I like walking), but I'd think twice about doing it with such young children, just a bit too far I think. It wouldn't take long by bus though, and it is possible to park near the Lagoon without too much hassle. There is a playground and paddling pool that is very popular in the summer with the little ones and easy access to the beach from there (also a cafe but I don't think it is as good for us mere mortals who just want a cuppa and and iced lolly since Heather Mills bought it but that's just my opinion Grin).
