Hiya - we've set our exchange date to move from Stoke Newington to High Barnet at the end of April (27th) and I was wondering if anyone who lives in the area could give me some tips of things to do with toddlers? I have twin boys who are just over two and a half. I'm feeling really daunted about moving from our area, which is full of playgrounds, parks, cafes & activities... We're going to check out the Old Court House Park today. Are there any groups for toddlers that are any good? Other small playgrounds? I know one other person in Whetstone, but she's about to go on holiday to Italy for 3 months - great timing! Cheers - Suzanne

Do you have a car? I spent a lot of time at Willows before DD started school! Barnet Council website used to have lists of toddler groups but I can't find it on there now. But you could try the Chidren's Centre at Underhill and they might have more details. Or the Library behind the Spires might have some flyers too. DD is now 7 and so I am really out of the loop on playgroups.

Old Courthouse is the main play park in High Barnet: there used to be a cafe there but it has closed down. Oakhill Park in East Barnet is nice too and the cafe there has a bouncy castle and other play stuff. If your boys like tramping through woods you could head to Hadley Common too.

Hope you get settled soon.

Hi, I also have twins aged 2.5 and have just moved to High Barnet! Hello!

Im just finding my feet but I go to Little Acorns toddler group at The Centre on a Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Its a great toddler group, very friendly and they always have activities such as painting/play doh etc.

The Old Courthouse is probably the best play park, I'm not sure of any others in walking distance but I go up to the duck pond in Hadley Wood just to let them run around and feed the ducks. There is also suppose to be another good toddler group at Christ Church on a Wednesday but I haven't yet checked it out.

If you drive there is a tiny soft play at the Furzefield Centre in Potters Bar (about 10mins drive from High Barnet). I like it because its so small you don't have to worry about having to run round after two toddlers at once and its usually quiet.

If you want, let me know next time you are in the area and ill come and say hello.

Kerry
