Gumtree or ebay?

Has anyone got any experience of selling larger items (eg car seats, P&T buggy, cotbed) on a pick up only basis? Which was more successful / straightforward Gumtree or ebay?

If you're on FB then you could try the local buy & sell groups, I've used my local one quite a lot. The listing won't cost you anything then.

I find Gumtree easier for selling "collect in person" items. That way if I get a few messages from interested buyers, I just go with the one who can collect at the most convenient time to me. With Ebay you are stuck with the highest bidder, and then if they don't finish the transaction you have the hassle of going through to second chance offers.
No fees on Gumtree either unless you upgrade your listing (I've never bothered and every baby/toddler item I've listed has always sold within 2 days).

Oh I forgot to say - with Gumtree I only have one photo on the listing but I offer to email more photos to anyone who is interested. Saves the fee.

There's a facebook page, I think called Cambridge Kids Site, where you can buy/sell kids stuff, have used it to buy toys.

I'd say ebay, definitely. We got a couple of derisory offers for our dishwasher on gumtree (30-35 quid), but it sold for 140 quid on ebay with about 12 bidders! It was still collected within 2 days by the buyer, so other than waiting for the auction to finish, there was no particular inconvenience involved.
